Where I'm From

Once I was from the sandy beaches And salty smell of the ocean water in sunny California. My surroundings then transformed to the flat plans of Kansas, Then changed again to the magnificent Evergreen State, Swarmed with mountains, trees, and life. I am from Saturday morning soccer games, From a busy schedule, and an almost robotic routine. I am from the maddening alarm clock ringing in my ear in the dreaded early mornings. From long school days that seem as though they will never end. I am from coming home from a long day with my adored pets welcoming me home with unconditional love. Where I’m from, my sister is waiting to tell me about her day and get my attention I am from adventures and travel. Exploring new lands, new countries, new surroundings, new cultures. Seeing sunny beaches and breathtaking castles and cathedrals, enriched with incredible history. I am from all of the seasons. From the peaceful rain trickling on the roof, letting everything go, drop by drop. From the brilliant sun sparkling off the clear blue water. From the leaves changing from bright green to a soft yellow or blazing orange, then scattering across the ground. From snowflakes landing on my nose and all of my surroundings cover with white. I am from memories, from family, from friends, and from inspiration.
