Where I'm From


I am from warm summers and beach sunrises

from family dinners and Christmas surprises

long dinner parties and generations of family

of Spanish food and samba dancing is where I’m from

 

I’m from the vast city of Munich and the tantalizing beaches of Copacabana

from the dreary weather of Santander and even somewhat Americana

to the warm beaches in Venezuela and the Leblon cabanas

of the islands of Portugal and streets of Madrid is where I’m from

 

I’m from tennis matches on sunny days to nine o’clock practices

from the sweat of hard work to the saying of no weaknesses

getting  the perfect stroke to out of this world soreness

of won and lost matches is where I’m from
