Where I'm From
I'm from generations miles long.
I'm from the blue house in the center of the street with parents who's age is decades apart.
I'm from the street named after something it's not.
I'm from the family who parties everyday of the week.
Who considers alcohol a main corse.
I'm from all the pain of lost loved
ones.
I'm from artist and stone mason set up on a blind date.
I'm from the neighborhood in which everyone shares my last name.
I'm from the cousins which have always been there for me.
I'm from the woman who dropped out of school because she was pregnant.
I'm from all the mistakes everyone around me had made.
I'm from the man that failed 7th grade 4 times.
Who can barely write but is a math genius and thrived to create his own business.
I'm from the accident that left us lucky to be alive.
I'm from the pink cast and scars that will be there infinitely.
The broken bones that remain to heal.
But most importantly where I'm from will not pave where I'm going.
