Where I'm From

Where I'm from there are More trees than imaginable, A huge fenced-in backyard, A city twenty minutes from home, A Momma Kitty and three dogs waiting to play. Where I'm from there are Harriers frequenting the sky, And friendly cookouts. Then where I'm from there is An endless amount of desert, Purple mountains at sunset, Tumbleweeds and sandstorms. Then where I'm from there is Friendship across the street, Spanglish speakers everywhere, Dry heat and wet pools. Now where I'm from there's Beach as far as the eye can 'sea', Humidity that brings immediate sweat, And more trees than before. Now where I'm from there's Fair-weather and faithful friends, Being the new kid in middle school, And finding new passions. Where I'm from has been determined by A community, A government influence, And a change in marital status. Where I'm from is Where my heart will always be, Where all my memories lie, And the start of new things.
