Where I'm From

i AM from mornings

Mornings as if the world were ablaze

i AM from Sundays

Sitting there on the pugh

As the pastor preach his life away

i AM from sticks and stones may break my bones

But words will never hurt me

i AM from being bullied in the back of the class

Why else do you think I’d sit so close to a teacher

i AM from being hit in the back of the head on the school bus

And being called a four-eyed at recess

i AM from marriage turned divorce

And they weren’t the only ones who were arguing that night

i AM from thoughts of escape

But never finding a way out

i AM from form foreclosed homes, no electric

But always had food to eat

i AM from new friendships and strong bonds

Great role models and teachers

Who believed in me

i AM from warm smiles, kind hearts, and open arms through my trials and tribulations

i AM from the love of my parents and all those in-between

Sunday started and ended as it usually did

Sitting on a rock by a waterfall

Looking back on all the good times and the bad

A vault sealed sealed shut for decades

Now open and flooding with rememory

These moments made me who i AM

And that is truly where i AM from
