Where I'm From
Just like you and I
I'm from the teddy bear, the blanket, the "I can't sleep without these tonight"
Just like you and I
I'm from the hugs, the giggles, the cuddles the family knit so tight
Just like you and I
We grow up and all we hear is
Judging judging juding, listen closely
Fag fag fag is all I hear
Fag fag fag is all he sees
Is it because I talk like this?
What the hell do you know about me?
I'm from the "aw that's so cute"
To the "yeah.... I'm straight"
I'm from the rumors, the gossip the "Oh my gosh, are you gay?"
I'm from the hangman's noose, the slit slit slit
To the pain that just won't go away
I'm from the piercing glares, the UNsupporting family, the loving sister
Thankfully
What the hell do you know about me?
What do you know about HIV?
About the number that hurts more than the blame to be
Where is your humanity?
I'm from the bullied, the suicidal, to the It Gets Better
I'm from the self-inflicting pain that only gets redder
I'm from the first love who thought it was okay
To say "Haha, just kidding, I'm not really gay"
I'm from the dreams of finding the guy, the marriage, the kids
Just like, some, of you and I
What the hell do you know about me?
Don't tell me who I should love or who I can see
I'm from a future of goals and many possibilities
From Tim Cook, Ellen DeGeneres to my best friend Nancy
I got you beat
You can't touch me when I have the LGBTQ community
I'm from my brother's laughter and nothing to say
Made me a lot stronger cause I was "born this way"
I'm from a childhood hell to an agonizing adolescence
Keep talking cause I'm immune to your ignorance
Fag fag fag the swears that you holla
You may keep your words cause I got Barack Obama
