Where I'm From...

From the deep roots of my ancestors ...

A long never ending line of family ...

Blood to Blood so much history …

The journey begins …

From the struggle of being enslaved ...

To the not so sweet freedom ….

We learn to fight ….

Our rights are finally claimed ...

Rejoicing with new found freedom ...

Trying to find a place ...

A place to finally call home ...

With nothing left but pride …

The life they had before ….

All left behind ...

But the haunting memories ...

Never forgotten ...

So much struggle ...

Pain ...

Struggle ...

Strife ...

Heartache ...

Grief ...

Despair ...

Trial …

Failure …

Pain , Pain ...

Just so much pain ...

Those words never forgotten ...

I am from Cleveland where all these things exist ...

Where we can not escape the dangers ...

So much hate...

Consuming the hearts , mind and the body...

Overcome with this feeling...

This is what destroys us...

This one little emotion...

Can change everything...

Blood everywhere…

This is where I’m from...

A place where I don’t know that I’m safe...

Where I can’t take one step without feeling scared...

So much brutality and loss...

There is nowhere to hide...

Nowhere to be safe...

This is where I’m from ...

A strong minded place...

That will always remain...

I know ,now you know…

Where I am from…
