where I'm from

Hibbard Strong is what echos through the walls,

The big brick thing filled with stories from head to toe,

Sun pours in, but doesn’t always bring warmth and light,

Black iron bars stand guard, at the end of the black-top, locked when the sun sleeps,

Sounds of ducks, chickens, and the meows of cats fill the air,

Screams of laughter or screams of scared rest in the foundation,

The man of the house created this big brick thing where the cornfields sway free,

Woods filled with mystery, stands behind bursting with green

Planted from seeds, grow up, and help feed what lies within the black iron bars.

from the free flowing creek, where the crayfish chill,

To the geodes and crystals that play hide and seek,

The sun sets so papa and I stay out to watch the lights dance in the night sky

From being a princess to a master chief, and faraway lands, each day was a new adventure with my sister,

Waking up, making Blueberry muffins all on my own, filling the house with the sweet smell, while we ate breakfast,

Grandma sewing away on her machine and, me stealing scraps to make runway designs,

Chess and checkers, then the popping of popcorn with root-beer and the redbox movies,

Swimming late at night, when my lips turned purple and my legs were tired i still refused to get out, of the water, until my mom or grandma yelled at me “time for bed!”

Leader ship to last a lifetime, skills useful in life,

Blue, brown, green, tan vests is what represents a Girl scouts level,

bugs, rain, platform tents with little scared screaming girls, smores roasting on an open campfire,

Standing outside in the winter air selling delicious treats chanting “would you like to buy a box of girl scout Cookies”,

The backs of vest is filled with little Patches earned by the one who wears the vest

Loading everything and everyone into the compacted car

On the road again sometimes knowing the destination,

Hours and hours in the car going on a new adventure,

“I have to use the restroom”,but making all of us wait for hours and hours,

The excitement and imagination to the brand new destinations,

Spending time there exploring different areas from across the country,

Packing up the car again and headed back to home sweet home.
