Where I'm From

Covered in blood…

My character is before I use potions

In the computer bounded to the chair is where I’m from

I am from a room with a desk full of textbooks at one end

And a television set on the other

A place with an aroma of Masala and Chili’s

Captivating my nose

I am from a ceiling that shakes the ground below

I am from the meaningless ties I share to the computer

unwilling to let go

Resigned to the real world I sulk all around without

marveling the beauty of the outside world

The cement road, the fried corn,  the liquor store

Are all forgone with an imagination of a senseless reality

I am from a fantasy of crystal palaces, wicked sorcerers,

And a brave hero for as long as I sleep on my pillow

Five days a week I go to school

Then, I go back home;

a place of loud noise, food, and discomfort since that’s

where I’m from

I am from missed opportunities with the ability to achieve

‘success’, but squander the chance with meaningless

procrastination

It’s not a joke ‘I am half the man I could be’

But my fear and paranoia distorts all that I see

I am from the friends that fill me with glee
