Where I'm From
I am from surrender
From obeying every order
A tarnished childhood
That ended much too soon
I am from sacrifice and separation
From compromise and desperation
Trials that were sometimes
Too hard to bear
I am from missed opportunities
From unwarranted discipline
I am from the chains of childhood bondage
From losing my innocence
I am from submission
From being punished for others' mistakes
I am from learning the hard way
