Where I'm From
I am from bottled water, from Voss and BLK
I am from the small, broken hearted, brown house in the fish bowl of Cherokee County.
I am from the Walnut trees and crazy weeds along the yard and the ponytail palm potted tree, Cattleya, Cotton.
I am from bad habits at a young age where graduates are rare in our family line, and poor decisions goes hand in hand.
I am from the troubled youth and mistakes that have been made by the ones who raise us.
I am from Tahlequah, Ok, Cherokee, German, and Mexican. Indian tacos and limes.
From the alcoholic who provided a home for her 4 kids, a brother who’s obsessed with basketball but didn’t make the basketball team, a sister whose memory is fading, a sister who’s working on herself, and me the Black sheep of my family.
I am from the tubs of pictures my mom collects, memories and tears my mom wept, the paused moments, the disappointed, happy and sad times. I am from a dysfunctional happy family surrounded by nothing but our memories and love for each other.
