Where I'm From

I'm from Memphis where we have the good and bad

where days are happy and sad

Where thugs think that drugs are a lifestyle

but maybe what they need is reassurance to keep a nice smile

I'm from Memphis where bbq is known

where gun violence is shown

Where we dont make it to 25

where kids dont try to thrive

I'm from Memphis where some parents don't try or even care

where prayer is not aware

But maybe what Memphis need is hope

and to learn how to not beat each other up

But that's not enough

Maybe they need to deal

With this thing called life

That can be very rough
