Where I'm From

I am from popsicles

From Band-Aid and Kleenex.

I am from the two story house

Big and blue

It felt like home.

I am from the sunflowers

The garden

Green and blooming.

I am from family reunions and blue eyes

From Frankie Jane and George and Fred.

I’m from the loud-mouthed and the loving

From the Easter Bunny lives in the roof of JcPenney’s

And you got your hair from God.

I’m from Springfield and dirt roads,

Potatoes and green beans.

From the great-great-great-grandpa, C.C. Akin, who sold Laura Ingalls Wilder land

And the great-grandma who’s fought cancer more than once.

Look in the entertainment center and you’ll find everlasting memories

From A to Z and everything in between.

I am from gravel roads, farm animals, and fields.
