Where I'm From Poem

I am from the Sunshine State, from Natural Parks and Theme Parks.

From Disney World to the Everglades.

I am from the neighborhood with many kids, riding bikes, catcing lizards, everyone had a Gameboy.

Everyone knew each other, all lights were out by 8.

I am from fishing in the lake behind my house on Saturdays, church at noon with the family on Sundays.

I am from movie nights and strict rules, from a worring mother and an unpresent father, and a younger sister for the best company.

From a broken home that welcomed three new step brothers.

I am from "you need to work harder" and "set a good example"

To be anything I want and to be a good older sister.

I am from the greater hand in the stars above, from God's forgivness and His unconditional love.

I am from two households, a mix of my father's takeouts and my mother's homemade dinners.

From the Hispanic culture, the loud side and the partying side of the family.

The side of the family that comes over every week.

I am from baby pictures above the fireplace, proud certificates mounted on the walls, and a simple poem of where I'm from.
