Where I’m From

Where I’m from, you mind your business

You don’t see or hear nothing

You keep your things close at all times

Where I come from, trains and buses are the only way to go

Buildings towered over eachother

“Ch,Ch,Ch” there goes the train

In the distance, you see everybody running up the stairs to catch the train.

Yet only a few make it!

”Stand clear of the closing doors” the conductor announced

” Dun, Dun” Here we go, ready for an adventure ?!

Where I’m from, betrayal is the new trend

It never comes from your enemy

People are fake and lay like snakes

Where I come from, family is the only thing you have.

They love and accept you for who you are

It’s not about blood, but those who are there for you

during the hard times and stayed.

Proved themselves worthy.

Where I’m from, you are killed because of your skin complexion.

Light or Dark it doesn’t matter

Once they see you, you’re gone!

Black Lives doesn’t matter

Justice is only one sided

Where I come from, Disney is our teacher

You must be a princess to find true love

You must be slim and have long hair to be a princess

Where I come from, everyone is so focus on trying to fit in.

It is a desire to have the newest clothing to be considered “cool”

In society, we are taught it is better to be “cool” rather than be smart

We judge eachother by appearances

Where we come from, we are placed in classes where we are caged like animals

We are told when or where we can think

Teachers are superior to us

We must raise our hands for everything

Yet in a world, where you told what to do

There’s me , the girl who is dark skinned  with the curly black hair

With a great mind, ready to take on the world
