Where I’m From

I am from Police sirens at night

From be yourself to someone will stop you.

I am from Home sweet home

Where having home cooked meals are to die for like the tamales rojos, family cariño & support is here, and the smell of apple cinnamon candles fumigates my maison.

I am from Palm Trees

Whose branches seem to shiver because of the negativity in my world and smile about my background.

I am from the dangerous  streets

From the bullet shells bouncing off the ground and tires screamingI am from danger outside to  safety as soon as I step into my house

I am from those moments where there is sadness but turns into happiness
