Where The People Are

Under the sea

In a dangerous part

Little Ariel be

And then the tale starts

She was looking around

The tattered boat

When Her friend made a sound

With his short, chubby throat

The sound made her laugh

But then she realized

She must cut the trip in half

For it was her demise

She raced back home

But it seemed too late

The father’s mouth foam

He’d decided her fate

She was never to leave

But that wasn't her style

He would grieve again

For she took on the next mile

This mile she thought

Was her womanhood

Her father’s lesson untaught

She was not understood

But upon her no show

A whirlpool arrived

The whole ocean blow

Her father contrived

But when the storm settle

Her eyes saw a prize

A prince wearing metal

Though, he didn't hear her cries

This was no man of the water

He was not safe here

He was in for a slaughter

All above water, was his ear

She swam over fast

And grabbed him up tight

A barrier was passed

She feared her father's smite

But she could not worry

For it was his life at stake

She made it to the shore in a hurry

And the prince awake

He smiled at her face

And she sang her reply

He voice was god’s grace

his love grew quite high

But she vanished quickly

She could not be caught

He father was prickly

He swore, at home she would rot

But she escaped once more

Determined to meet her soul mate

Through her dungeon she tore

She saw to the witch for her fate

The witch nodded yes

With only one command

No voice? A small pest

She was not damned

She became human, with legs

She re-met her prince

But his love went to “Megs”

She pleaded, she winced

Her prince was true

And her voice was far gone

She with all she’d been through

She could go no further on

She prayed, back to the sea

Her legs she’d sewn up

But mermaid she couldn’t be

She drowned like a hurt fish in a cup.
