Where's my Universe?
We were supposed to live happily ever after.
We had so many good times and so much laughter.
It still feels like a dream,
All those bruises you left on my cheek.
I never thought you were capable of this.
You made think we would last with every kiss.
I yelled, please don’t call the cops!
Then on the door I heard a knock.
As I rode in the ambulance,
I was scared.
And when I got to the hospital,
Everyone stared.
I caressed my stomach and cried, my baby!
After the doctor said, I’m sorry, I can’t find a heartbeat.
They asked if I wanted to stay and deliver her
But I said, no, I just want to go home.
My mother wiped my tears and whispered,
You deserve more, the stars, the moon and the Earth
Down to its core.
In my heart, I knew this
And began to blame you for every moment watching her grow up
That I would miss.
I deserve the stars, the moon and the Earth
But you never saw my worth.
All I wanted was for you to sing to me and hold my hand in the car
But instead every night you wanted to drink and drive to the bar.
When I was little
I dreamed of being someone’s princess,
Him calling me beautiful and taking care of me nonetheless.
So I knew this wasn’t it.
This was a nightmare,
I had to wake up and omit.
I couldn’t believe this had become my reality.
The love of my life was also mine and my daughter’s mortality.
I deserve more.
I deserve the stars, the moon and the Earth.
I knew this
So I took my love and I left,
I went to find my bliss.
