Wherever You Are

The wind shook the house on that cold, cold night
You were yelling at me, I didn't want to fight.
You stumbled down the stairs,
You stumbled into my room,
You grabbed me by the hair, and you blamed me.
You smashed the cookie jar,
You smashed door,
You smashed some of my heart.
You left every now and then,
You always left, again and again.
I called you here, I called you there
Never more than a minute or two.
You've got someone else more important that me.
You've pushed it all away at a costly fee.
I'll always love you, no matter where you are.
I don't know if you're near or far,
But you are always close to my heart.
I promised wherever you were
I could look up at the stars,
And hoped you weren't at the bar.
I promised wherever you are,
I wouldn't cry, but it would be our last goodbye.
