Which Hand?
Once I saw two hands, They were from entirely different lands. They came in the form of a woman fair, Both in flowing dresses and arms bare. They both had long blond hair, These women so fair. One had beautiful wings colored gold, The other did not but was twice as bold. They didn't give their names, These mysterious dames. Instead, they each held out a hand to me, They said, for something you need to see. You- they said- have to make a decision, You need to make it after this vision. Confused, I stared at them for awhile, But I trusted them; for they without guile. I reached and took the hands, These two hands from entirely different lands. One was cold as ice or solid gold, The other was flaming hot and hard to hold. The visions soon started, I was forced to go where they led. The visions started with the angel of heat, Watching was no easy feat. The visions showed the end of the world, There was no rule, all chaos, no Lord. There was a man- was it a man?- in control of all, He'd been around since the Fall. This was Hell on earth, Sin had been given reign and of itself to birth. Mankind was destroying itself from the inside out, There was no kindness, no compassion, only doubt. This world was a scary place, No smile, no joy, only pain on every face. This was a world of betrayal and pain, With Satan as the world's stain. After what seemed like hours, this vision ended here, But I was still left to remember and fear. It was now the cold angel's turn, Would her visions my mind burn? As if she knew my fear, she had a smile in her eye, Be still, said she, you are not about to die. I took this hand so cold and forgot the woman so bold. The vision was the end of the world, This was utopia, in control was the Lord. The cities were gold, My angel's hand was no longer cold. I felt warm inside my soul, I knew my fate, my decision, my goal. Here every soul was happy and free, The lame could walk and the blind could see. Satan wasn't here, There was no fear and no tear. The vision stopped again, A question was asked of me then. Which hand? Asked these angels, Would you the world to rise or would you the world to fall? Which hand shall you take, The easy warm one, or the hand in which momentary pleasure you forsake? Which hand shall you choose, What will you lose (And ultimately gain)? Which hand, your pleasure or soul, What is your heart's true goal? I knew I had to do this fast, The decision for eternity would last. This is to make you say to me, But giving up my life is not easy you see. I have my family and job and life, My children and wonderful wife. But in the end, which hand? Where shall I stand? It's that easy to choose, What will you lose (and ultimately gain)? I chose my pleasure and gained my soul, I achieved the true goal. I reached out and took the hand of the angel cold and then reached the city of gold. Then, dear friend, which hand will you choose? What will you lose (and ultimately gain)?
