In Which I Leave Departing Words

Goodbye to the summer rain in winter

Goodbye to those who once sung us lullabies

Goodbye to the story when we turn the last page

Goodbye to the memories we wish to forget

There are far too many goodbyes

Goodbye is a heavy word

It makes a heart sag and twist

Perhaps the heart was never meant to say goodbye

We look forward

But we linger in hopes we never departed

I hope my words never leave you

And keep you company as you linger

Even after I say

Goodbye.
