While in their memories, tiny tragedies.

The rain.
It soaked my dreams,
Ruined my love
And caused my soul to fade.

But then again, the rain,
It made a new ground
I stepped on the rock and it was sound.
I’d built my house on the sand
A house built and broken by your hand.

The sea ate it up
And that damn sea, what a stupid fuck.
Calm and soothing, lulling me to sleep
Keeping me in peace.
And then angry with rage,
Thrashing me around, sucking me under
Where my feet cannot find the ground.

And the rain falls into the sea,
Just like I wanted your love to fall into me.
But wait, I was the rain and you were the sea.
This metaphor is messy, just like the person I wanted to see.

You were funny, smart, articulate and kind
But baby, I was wrong,
You are careless, selfish, irresponsible.
Grow up, grow a goddamn mind.
Cuz babyboy, mama ain’t here now
She gave you a life to live, it’s your job to learn how.

But why am I preaching to you?
That’s what you were supposed to do.
But you don’t practice what you preach,
You’re a joke. Come on now, give an honest speech.
That, you will never be able to do
And your actions have become you.

This tiny tragedy I will forget.
I will grow into a new being, one who learns from her regrets.
But you, you will be the same babyboy,
Never seeing past yourself, only concerned with your own joy.

Naive?
Yes, I was naive to believe in your words
Naive to believe in the way that we “verve”.
The shit that slips from those lips I so badly wanted to taste
Everything you say, baby, you’re a fuckin waste of space.

But now, its just me and the rain
I know the rain brings life to the world and my soul
I played the fool, when I knew it was your role.
I am renewed and my ocean will not accept your acid rain,
Because it just pollutes and swallows the life inside and disrupts what I have tamed.

I am a new life, a new person, a clean heart
Now babyboy, you get up here and play your part.
When I see you I will smile and wave
And just like the ocean inside me, the clean rain is all that I will save.
