While you were gone
While you were gone When I heard your name, I smiled. I smiled at the sight of the bright stars late at night. I smiled as I breathe in the cool morning air. I smiled as the rain falls softly on my head. I smiled as I stroke my dog’s soft coat. And when I heard your name, I smiled. When I heard your laugh, I wanted to run. I wanted to run to tallest mountain. I wanted to run through the icy ocean waves. I wanted to run away from my past. And when I heard your laugh, I wanted to run to you. As the days went by, I thought. I thought of the people I have met. I thought about the chances I have been given. I thought back to what I have seen, felt, known. And as the days went by, I thought of you. I thought of you and the days we wasted. While you were gone, I left you my darling.
