A Whippersnapper Forgets

Once upon a time

When Rooster makes his crow,

In a land of song and rhyme

where the whippersnaps grow,

A young girl slept

after Rooster said to wake

when out of bed she leapt!

"Oh my, I mustn't be late!"

She ran and ran and fought!

to get to whippersnap school

where whippersnaps taught

and whippersnappers drooled.

She arrived at the gate,

Her heart pounding in her head.

She knew she was so late!

"Snap, Snap!" The whippersnap said.

She sat in her seat,

still tired from her bed,

but, suddenly jumped to her feet!

"I've forgotten my Lamb!" Mary said.

And now there is no rhyme

for the children in our land,

for Mary wasn't on time

and never brought her little lamb.
