Whirlwind

I feel nothing

My mind, a black empty space

Deep, dark

Untouched

No one is there

Silent, no warmth, no coldness

Then you appear

Everything changes

The blackness fades away

Color flows in

Streaks of blue, purple, green, and so on

Painting my world a new

Tempest winds rage

Gusts of joy fly in

Gales of sorrow and pain are next

Forming a whirlwind of emotions

No one is safe

Not I, nor friend or foe

And you my dear

Will suffer the brunt of it

The whirlwind closes in on us

Picking up in speed and momentum

We can’t escape

It has swept us up

We fly into the air

Suddenly, the whirlwind slows to a gentle breeze

We begin to free fall

Smiles and laughs for a while

Until we crash down to earth
