Whisper in the Wind

You were my best friend, my mentor, my light.

You were my world, my everything.

You took care of me and fought me,

Raised me and coddled me.

You were my father and you left me.

I thought you were gone forever,

But I've realized one thing,

You never left my side,

you are the whisper in the wind.

I can hear the warnings, praise, advice and love,

Never to be seen, but always known.

I can feel the breeze in my hair,

Like fingers running through a field of wheat.

Ever so softly, I feel you there,

Knowing you'll never ever leave.

Like whispers in the wind,

Sending messages to me from beyond.

A vail in which can never be torn.

Please, don't ever leave me.

I need you dad,

I need you be my whisper in the wind.
