White Elephant

From afar they stare, eyes locked in awe. Knowledge, a sacred beast, a temptress with claws, That holds fast to my mind. I desire the gift. A Promethean fire, whose power will shift, As eagles will come to pick at my soul, And light will shine through this desolate hole. And this shadow of man will again comprehend. That our ignorance is relished, but it must come to an end.
