White Rose

Soft, perfect petals fall, then fly.

Drop, then spiral, riding the wind’s sigh.

Young girls look up with innocence bright

And with eyes that shine with purity’s light,

And wonder where those white petals are headed.

Where will they go? Where will they land? Are they from someone who was just wedded?

Or are they from a single flower, who couldn’t hold them any longer.

Onward the petals drifted as spring slowly came, and growing steadily stronger.

Once again the petals were seen,

This time by a young man, with eyes of forest green.

He watched the petals and they dipped up, then back down.

They reminded him, of his love back home. His love for her was sure as the world is round.

His heart swelled at the very thought of her waiting for him to come back home.

The petals filled his soul with hope, for being with her was like gloam

Not yet day, and not yet night

Everything about them being together felt right.

Off he walked, with the white petals following near

And whispering ideas into his ear

“I’ll surprise her,” He decided with a smile, a bounce in his step, a twinkle in his eye

“I’ll surprise her with a single rose. A white rose. “ Onward the guy

walked. After awhile, the petal could follow no longer, and onward flew

into the night, whispering an almost silent farewell to all the people. “Adieu!”

As the pure white petals of a single, white rose disappeared off into the night
