This White Suburban Anthem

an overreaction, a laugh

a disorderly disagreement

between two people who don't talk much

but talk enough so they know  what

the other thinks about 

politics, immigration and gay marriage

two white men in two polo shirts

wearing khakis and expensive shoes they only wear to work

brown hair, brown eyes, whitewashed minds

these men don't trip when they find out 

their significant other regards them as more "other" than "significant"

2.5 kids, a dog and a trophy wife

empty liquor bottles and snuffed out joints

a pool bigger than yours

and four floors of emptiness

fake smiles and fake love 

what else is there to hide behind?
