Who?

I am BROWN.
My hair,
My skin,
My eyes.

Brown, but NOT black.
Black is coal,
Coal that comes from the earth.
The BROWN earth.

I am OVERWEIGHT
Or at least that's what THEY say
But then again who are THEY?

I am confused.
I thought we moved on,
But here we are AGAIN.
Littering the streets with the SAME
HATEFUL words.

Go back
Go back
Go back
Again.

I am suppressed,
Like a bird in a cage.
Look at ME,
Fluttering and flustered.

Someone left the gate open.
Now watch me RISE.

I am SMART.
Intelligent girl,
Mind bending,
Boundaries breaking.

I am BEAUTIFUL.
My mother's child.
FLAWS included.

I am rising ABOVE the LIMITS
Of who I can be,
Who I will be,
Who I am.

Who am I?

Who?
