Who am I?
I am who I am, I am me.
But your eyes deceive,
And make you believe,
A person that I can never be.
I am who I am, I am my insecurities;
Only in my dreams do they hide out in obscurity.
Yet in real life they’re all I see,
And in truth they’re all I can ever be.
My body, my hair, my face, my weight;
They all tell me that I’ll never have that perfect fate.
Leaving me always as second best
Wishing I was better than the rest.
I am who I am, I am broken.
I’ve been torn, shred,
But most of all left for dead.
As my lifeless body lay weeping,
My heavy thoughts started creeping.
I was alone.
Not a soul to save me from despair,
Not a soul to show me that they care.
Only time will tell if I will ever heal,
I just hope my devil doesn’t come looking for another deal.
Judgment in the world has clouded our eyes.
Yet one must see through all of these lies.
When they say what you see is what you get,
They really mean is for you to forget;
Forget who you are and where you have come from,
Think of appearance and they will make you succumb.
But not me because
This is the real me.
I have laid myself bare for you to see
Don’t judge me for what is on display
Judge me for my imperfections that led me here today
