Who Am I?

For so long i wondered who i was

born half this and alf that

for years i grew up thinking

thinkig i wa one an not the othe

who am i?

for so long i was half mexcan

born half Navajo and half Mexican

for years i grew up thinking

thinking with a mexican mind

still asking

who am i?

until i came home to stay

still thinking with a mexican mind

thinking i was still one and not the other

for so long i denied being the other

stil asking myself

who am i?

one day i finally woke up

thinking i am now a Navajo

seeing the beauty

of my land and shi dine'e

i know who i am now

i found myself

now i walk through life thinking

thinking like a Navajo woman

i am a kiyaani

born for naakai dine'e

with no more questions

of who i am
