Who Am I?
You ask who I am
And believe me I wish I knew
The journey to find who I really am was quite a task
Maybe I’m just someone else in disguise
Who uses a mask to hide their true identity?
I try and try to find myself
But who is the “real me”
I can’t control the confused thoughts in my head
And it pains me being unable to see myself
What drives me?
What gives me life?
Everyone is told their special and unique
But what is my life purpose?
That may never be uncovered, but I still seek an answer
I wish I was creative like Pablo Picasso,
Or, Confident like Marilyn Monroe
Though that’s not me
I’m insecure of my flaws
And, generally always an emotional wreck
I dream to speak out of how I truly feel
But, today’s critics hold me back with their death grip full of disapproval
Why must they bring me down?
What have I done to deserve to feel so alone?
Where is the friendly face that tells me to stay strong?
I yearn to be off in a distant place where no one can bother me
With all of their disturbing conforming thoughts
But my conscience always drags me back to do my daily tasks
Off I go now back onto the never ending ride they call life
I do what I must to make it through
Though times are not always what we imagine
I will continue to impact the world with my foolish choices
Hopefully others will join the movement and the world may become a better place
Never will I allow doubt to fill my head
For every step I take is another step towards a better world
I am unique.
