Who Am I?

I am from the doorsteps of an orphanage,

I am from the sound of crying babies, motherless.

I am from a place where the boy was favored over a girl,

Where the One Child Policy was enforced.

But that’s not who I am.

I am from a loving family,

That chose me and took me as one of their own.

I am an A+ student that always strives to do her best.

I am a passionate swimmer, pianist and teacher.

I am an independent, strong, young woman

Who is not defined by her past.

I know that I am not alone, I know that together we can make a difference.
