Who am I?
Who am I?
I’m starting to ask the question to the world like
Who are you?
You know the ones with the fine eyes
People defying odds time after time
The ones who make legacy’s out of the things that bring them misery.
Who am I?
I’ll start from where I know
I’m a ship off the port of North Carolina
My people from who knows where Africa brought here, sold.
And thought the years of Deculturalization the replacement of names, African turned into English slang.
Somewhere in between there my Africa disappeared
Somewhere in between there some cultures mixed
Like the people made from greed with some kind of superiority and the one that run through my vain like their feet ran though this very terrain
Bur enough about me what about them.
Did she have dimples, was an gap sister, get tired groaning and started talking
Someone please tell them don’t limit my answers because she’s 10,000 years old
Because the earth hugged her body begging for her bones to give in
But she’s a fighter she must have died fighting
And when she walk she must have spitting future Beyoncé lyrics dance moves and everything
Tell me her name
She might have just walked with her eyes and ears open for predator or pray wondering if she was going to make it another day in an unknown Asia.
Was he an Afro Man?
Literacy weighing down on his chest
Victory not as prize but a test of Darwin’s evolution
Survival of the fittest
Later know as survival of the whitest Mr. Aborigine man
Tell me that our hurt is the same
That I know as much about my African ancestors as you know about the 21st century human.
Let’s let the Bones, the DNA, the genome sequences lead to unlocking our secrets about ourselves
Our ever growing curiosity the answers that a history Geek like me needs
They say you can’t get to where you’re going to unless you know where you came from
Well I want to know from the get go
Was I just drop on this earth or a divine creature made from God derived from Adam and Eve?
Lucky for me that’s a thing now
Looking at Bone of ancient bodies and artifacts
To find the forgotten pieces of ourselves
