Who am I?

I don’t know who I am but I’ll start with what I do,

My name is Austin, and to you I am who?

I’ve walked great lengths in many different shoes,

Yet I feel the same in each pair that I choose.

I guess you could say creative I am,

In a world full of ordinary Carpe Diem is my plan.

A ruler of my destiny I see no other way,

But to wake up each morning and make the best of my day.

It’s love of life which empowers my own.

Twenty years young yet the law considers me grown,

Who am I, I may never know.

To label myself, means I must be bound,

So I keep myself open, like a young heart yet to be broken.

Though my strides aren’t instant; I do start with a pivot.

To error is human, to forgive is divine,

I tell myself this as a friendly remind,

Who am I, I simply do not know.

It’s who I could be that intrigues my soul.

Imagination is free from an intrusive toll,

Equipped with this knowledge, I am made whole.

Thus begging the question who I could be,

Driving ambition to who I should to be.

Conformity is the jailer of Freedom,

And unique is the first step toward wisdom.

I leave you sitting here pondering,

Who am I, but I do not know.

Could I be a philosopher of my time?

Or is my downfall a one track mind?

Would I stand up to a great challenge?

Or crumble because the pain is too much to manage?

Will I ever look to know who I am,

Or is it more fun to make it up as I go?

What a great mystery, one which the world may never know.

Mr. Owl, my answer isn’t as simple as three,

Which makes this unfortunate for little ole me.

You want to know who I am, but I am too busy,

Too busy, trying to learn who you are.

Each story I hear of aspiration,

Is one that we should meet with a great deal of admiration.

But if you truly want to know my story,

Then make sure you are in no hurry.

My mind is scattered and yet concrete,

To know who I am would take twenty years to complete.

I’m sure some of my friends would say, or just twenty beers,

And I would probably be more open to tell you all of my fears,

Except there is just one problem,

One problem that you already know.

You know exactly,

Who I am.
