Who am I, Who is me

I came from a culture where things are different, If only others knew our struggles. The church, my life all I was trying to juggle. The struggle is real, If only some people had the sympathy to feel. Reminiscing when I was little, Imagining all the things I was inspired to be. Lying down in the green pastures, Who am I, who is me? The life out there was not going to be easy, People constantly dying, daddy is filled with sorrow Mother is always crying, waiting on the morrow. Wiping all the tears, and taking away the fears. I was ready to step outside and fly, Broaden my arms, as if wings and touch the sky. Sky is the limit my daddy told me, Try and reach it, mamma said to me. Compassion in her eyes, as I stepped into this ungodly world, Hoping I would keep my faith and love, For the God that sent me from above. Even through ups and downs, Baby girl he’s always going to be around. Remembering those words mamma said, And on that day all the tears that I shed. One person can make a difference, Even if that person is me; I’m going to set out and find, Who I am, who is me.
