Who are you?

Who are you? A quetsion asked too often and never answered correctly. Are you on a sports team? Are you in the school play? Do you enjoy art classes? For any answer we give, we will always be judged on it.

I walk through the hallways at school and see everyone in their cliques. I still don't know which one I belong to after the past four years of high school. I ask myself evryday the same question. Who am I?

Am I apart of the jocks because I play sports? Should I talk to my peers from musical department because I love to sing? Or maybe I should sign up for an art class because I used to love to draw. I look in the mirror everyday and wonder who I am going to pretend to be today. What crowd should I go with. Isn't high school supposed to be the time in your life where you figure out who you are?

Sicne High School is coming to a close soon for me, I've thought a lot about the question I ask. I came up with my own definition of figuring out who I am. I'm not what sports i have played. I'm not what kind of clothes I wear or what brand of make up I buy and apply. I'm not the lies and mean words I have said to people just to make my image look better. I am not the girl who is dating the star quarter back on the football team.

I am me. A seventeen year old girl who loves to dance and sing. I am my favorite quotes and my favorite books I read over and over. I am the girl who wants to apologize for every wrong doing, but never has the courage to say anything. I am a dreamer. And I believe those dreams can never be too big to succeed. I admit I am more of a follower than a leader. But I am not afraid to lead something I feel strongley about. I am the inside jokes I share with my friends. I am every thought that flows through my mind every day, week, month and year. I am me.

So the next time someone asks you who you are, don't be afraid to say the truth about yourself. You only have one life to live. One life where the present moments become past memories. Good or bad, life will still move forward and you will keep becoming the person you were meant to be. You are you. And that is the most beautiful thing about life. We are here to figure out what our purpose is. And I'm still on this wonderful, yet crazy  journey of looking for myself. And once I get to the end, I'll be able to tell you all about my story of who I am.
