Who Can Smile?
Earth,
a miracle of the universe,
a place where there are people.
People,
living, breathing collections of cells,
every one a living world unto itself.
Yet
in such a marvelous miracle,
there is so much suffering.
If
only there was a way to put a smile on everyone's face,
bringing back color to dull gray world.
Rich
folk who delude themselves into believing they're happy,
and secretly despising everything they have.
Poor
paupers who work themselves to the bone,
and who envy those who grow fat on cash.
Young
whippersnappers who want to grow up
and know what the world hides behind color.
Old
geezers who sit staring out of their by Deals Plugin Extension" href="http://www.powerpoetry.org/poems/who-can-smile">windows,
wishing for the glory days to return.
There
is no one in the world who can say the never lost their smile
and there are many who never knew what a smile was.
Do
we not all deserve to smile
and experience the elation of joy?
