Who I Am...

I am not a poet, I'm not that deep with my words But who I am is a dedicated student (consider me one of the nerds) I am not a writer, my phrases won't paint pictures in your mind But who I am is a future doctor, and my practice will cater to mankind I am optimistic about my future My glass is always half full My best foot is always forward My ears stay closed to bull**** So why apply for a poetry scholarship With no poetry experience at all? A rookie in a pool of pros? Trying to walk before I crawl? If I don't try, I'm guaranteed defeat I have to at least give myself a shot There are many things I can say that I am But a quitter is one thing I'm not
