Who I Used To Be

I'm not proud of who i was

If I was to meet her now

I know that I would hate her

Not because I hate myself

But because of who I used to be

She was terrible

She did things

That I would write slam poetry about

She infuriates me

She's one of the things

That keeps me up at night

Because I know I was once her

And I know that a part of her

Still exists deep down

She's the part of me

That's so cruel and insensitive

She comes out sometimes

And I always regret it

I don't want to be her anymore

Now I want to be me

No more

No less

I cut my hair

Changed my style

All as an attempt to erase her

But I can't

She'll always be here

As much as I don't want her to be

She's part of my past

She made me who I am

And although i cannot stand

Who i was back then

I cannot deny

She made me into a better person

She showed me what to never do

And I became the person

I always hoped of being

I'm not proud of who I was

But I am proud of who I've become

And that's all that matters now
