Who Knew?

Who Knew?

Who knew the guy I was “in love with” would turn out to be a no good

Who knew he would take control of me and make me feel weak

Who knew he would make love to me but leave me in the dust to raise a child

He knew.

He knew I had a fragile heart and soul

He knew he could bring me down and break me

He thought I would crash and burn..but I didn’t.

But who knew I would meet someone else

Someone who was there with me the entire journey

Someone who could bring my happiness back

Someone who would ask frequently how my little one was doing

As if he were their own

You made sure I was okay, and if I wasn’t you took care of me

I can be myself around you and you don’t try to change me

When our eyes meet, it send chills all over

When you touch my hand, it makes me feel unstoppable

Who knew my best friend would start to become more than a friend

I can open up and you just listen, but if I need advice you’re there

You brought my true self out and love me for that…

Who knew I would start to love again

Who knew?

Because I didn’t.
