Who is Me?
Be you, they said. Just be you. Be who?
Am I bold? Am I meek? Do I hold my tongue or do I speak?
Should I put my hair up? Should I let my hair down? Should I shave it all off and let it fall to the ground?
Do wear bright colors? Do I wear all black? Which shirt do I put back on the rack?
Should I copy the girl to my right? Should I copy the girl to my left? If I do, isnt that theft?
Taking what isn’t mine and molding it into what they think it should be. Why can’t I decide what is and isn’t ME?!
I know what I am. I know what I’m not. I am pretty average looking, but by no means “hot.”
I need someone to come and help. How do I know when I am being myself? How do I know when I am someone else?
Take off the filter and open my eyes. The way to decide can be easy ,I guess. It’s ok to realize you’re one big hot mess.
Last place is fine. First is fine, too. As long as the whole time you know you were you.
Do what you want, within in reason of course. Say what you feel, just let it out. Going against what you want will only leave you to pout.
But who is me anyways? I’ve got some exploring to do. I may not know yet, but I know she’s not you.
