#nofilter is a hashtag

that seems to be used as a dearth.

It is not the filter on a simple “selfie”

that can define a true person’s worth.

 

I am something of bendable,

unbreakable matter.

A character that truly

nothing can shatter.

 

A catholic school student

for all of my life,

something that the thought of

brings me absolutely no strife.

 

It shaped my person

and all that I have done,

and an excellent college education

is part of one of the things I have won.

 

Apart from the academics,

I learned valuable lessons too.

I was taught how to treat people

and give them their right due.

 

Dance is a passion

I have had since I was a little girl.

I had valued every second

as if it was a precious pearl.

 

Although not academic,

my studio had taught me a lot.

Those teachers taught me more

than just my dance and my spot.

 

They guided me

to be my very best.

And only when I would be ready,

I could fly from the nest.

 

I have no filter,

I act as I see fit.

And my past experiences

have taught me to never quit.
