Who is Me?

I sat at home for hours on end trying to put my thoughts here

with the struggle of not quite knowing anything.

It took quite a long time for me to be able to see what I wanted to say,

about “who I am”

and

“The Definition of Myself.”

But my short 17 years of experience had only given me a fleeting look

at what I’d hope I’d be

however, Isn’t that all I need?

I am me.

I am me, because no one else can be.

And no “me” is more me for no “me” is as

selfless

as me, who would sacrifice life and limb just to make you smile

and no one else is as

naive

as me, like a child patiently eating carrots to gain “X-Ray vision”

and no other me can be as

playful

as me, because every day is like a game you get to play

over and over and over.

And when you look in a mirror and you don’t see

the face of someone you wish you could be

I am the only me who can tell you

definitely that the mirror must be broken, cause

no other “me” is as “me” as me because they can’t

view the world in a glance and still see every detail.

But still can’t quell their insides, like a sea of anxiety and fear, hoping that

the dam you call your smile doesn’t crumble under the pressure of

who you ought to be.

Because there is no other “me” who can say, at the drop of a hat,

that there is no need to be afraid

no other “me” that has such kind words to say to

Everyone.

At least that’s what I thought,

but there is another “me” just as me as me.

No, they may not be exactly as selfless as I,

nor as naive as me, though I do hope they are just as playful

Because, when you get to spend enough time with

a “me” like me

you absorb the essence of me

and then “me” turns into you

and “you” turns into me

back again,

finally.
