Who, ME?

I was shy.

Always would deny,

Hanging out with friends.

Time went by,

This hurt me in the end.

I eventually opened back up,

Leaving self-consciousness behind.

I found happiness,

I AM the strongest I've ever been.

My best friend said,

You are beautiful.

It was then I realized,

I wasn't supposed to be disguised.

I was who I was,

Never to change.

Accept who you are,

You are beautiful.

I AM beautiful.

In more ways than one.

Accepting yourself makes you cheerful,

When trying to do so, never say "I'm done."

WE ARE beautiful,

In more ways than one.

This poem was influenced by the shy girl I used to be, and how my best friend guided me to light. She has helped me in more ways than one on hthe journey to showing the best side of who I am. She never fails to put a smile on my face.

She just graduated basic training for the U.S. Coast Guard and is living in another country, I went from spending every day with her, to every day without her. It's been about 3 months, and I have never missed anyone so much.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed my work of art and self expression.
