Who Is “Me”?

WHO IS “ME”
Poem by Jaiden S. Lowery

I stared blankly at the wall
Watching my shadow as it watched me
As every aspect of my body began to bleed
Not a bleeding that you can see, only internally
As I began to grasp the side of the bed wondering
"Why me?"
Untouched, am I, by the scorns from the heavens above Judge me not by my past,
but by who I am to be
"Who am I to be?"
Is a question I ask frequently
I sit alone waiting patiently
As I watch the lives of others begin to pass
As well as my own
Watching the unknown as it transformed into the untold  I watched it unfold and manifest to be what it is
A monster in disguise, this life
Maybe not a monster…
Maybe something created from the Gods
Something so pure and amazing…
But tarnished by the demons
Trapped and afraid
Maybe that's why all happiness has gone away…
But I will not ponder on the mysteries
For they are simply not for me
I focus on who I am to be
Who is "me"
Tell me, for I can not see.
Please tell me, Jaiden Lowery.
