Who's Told to Tell You

Who told you this, who told you that,

There is no such proof to accept,

What you hear is not yours,

Yours is not a life worth less or more,

What to do, Why to do,

Not enough questions, too many,

Not right, always wrong,

Polite delight, rude in fright,

Do what they do, never be just you,

Feel this, hide that,

Rules are rules and that’s that,

Feeling down, don’t make a frown,

Laugh and smile, but never in but a small while,

You cry, you fall, don’t get back up at all,

You can’t fix, you must, or be thrown under the bus,

Don’t seek, don’t squeak, don’t ever keep,

Secrets kill, don’t say a peep,

Be courageous, spontaneous, but short-lived,

You won’t be here forever anyway, but long enough to see who is,

Good servant, good master, bad keeper of disaster,

Up is never down, but only when it isn’t ever up,

Pass it on, pass it out, pass it in, pass it off,

Forget in time, but never fine,

Stuck like this, poetic never rhyme,

Why be this, and never that,

Why long for a life you’ll never get,

Who told you these things I say,

Man… That’s a lot of ways,

But who told you that?

Who told you this?

Not I, Maybe Me,

NIMM’s the word if mum isn’t,

Don’t tell a soul if I tell you a secret,

Keep to the rules,

You’ll survive longer than the already dead,

Make your rules,

Die quicker if you’re not cunning,

The cunning live longer than [Insert dim-witted thing],

Change the rules,

End up beaten or on the winning side,

Doesn’t Matter,

The kings’ regime will tumble, crumble, fumble,

Bitterly fall to be forgotten by all,

Rules change, forgotten forever,

New set every September, November,

The way I see it you have lots of choices,

Simplistically confusing,

Each with a twist,

A dagger in the back and maybe a snack pack,

No play, no game,

One more secret, or not if you like,

A riddle of sorts, or not that’s fine,

I can’t tell you yours but I’ll tell you mine,

Mine just is one step at a time,

After all tomorrow’s tomorrow if you want it to be today,

Either way it’s What I Say and it’s My Way.

Not they told them to tell us to tell her then him then you then me,

It’s who I am and that’s the way I choose to see.
