Whose Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

I ran up the stairs with fear

fear that the big bad wolf was going to catch me

me being a five year old girl

a girl that played with her pap

pap put his beanie on his head and his mittens on his hands and said

" Whose afraid of the big bad wolf"

My sister and I heard those words and we screamed

we screamed as we slammed the door shut and hid behind the door

upon the door there was a soft knock

" I'll huff and i'll puff and i'll blow this door down"

Suddenly the door opened and we were face to face with the wolf

Our silly little game was over, and we settled upon the couch

Pap pulled out his guitar and we began singing our anthem

" You are my sunshine, my only sunshine "

We sang and sang for hours until our lungs grew tired

Mama came home and found the three of us sleeping on her messy bed.

Pap has a way with imagination, with him mine came to life

I dream of positivity and reduced nightmares

A world full of good people and no crime

I imagine the future and what it has planned for me

Picturing chasing my children up the stairs in fear of the big bad wolf

I can imagine all of this because of my pap

My pap is someone that might not physically be here forever

But mentally, spiritually, and within my heart

Pap will forever be here
