Why?

I use poems to tell my thoughts when normal words won't do

To express my inner, darker sides that I'm afraid of too

It feels like in my darkest times, my words come best in rhyme

And sometimes, when I write these words, the darkness fills less time

Poetry is my escape when nothing else succeeds

Poems take my breaking heart and give it room to breathe

So if you ask me why I write, why poems mean so much

I'll simply tell you that it helps me keep myself in touch.
